Engineered Hardwood...still solid hardwood but composed of bonded veneers that are cross-grained to provide maximum strength in any climate[even humid basements]. Engineered floors offer flexibility in installation. The boards can be glued , stapled, nailed or sometimes floated above the sub-floor. Planks are snapped, or clicked together, which makes it easier for the do-it-yourself homeowners.
